मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी मराठी भाषेच्या मुद्द्यावर ऑटो आणि टॅक्सी चालकांबाबत सरकारची भूमिका स्पष्ट केली. हिंदी भाषिक चालकांना मराठी भाषेचे तज्ज्ञ बनवण्याचा आग्रह नसून त्यांच्या कामासाठी आवश्यक असलेली बोलचालीपुरती मराठी यावी, एवढीच अपेक्षा असल्याचे त्यांनी सांगितले.
चालकांना मराठी शिकवण्याचे प्रयत्न सुरू असून त्यांच्या मागणीनुसार यापूर्वीही दोन वेळा मुदत वाढवण्यात आली आणि आता तिसऱ्यांदाही वेळ देण्यात आल्याचे फडणवीस म्हणाले. पुढेही चालकांनी मराठी शिकण्यासाठी आणखी वेळ मागितल्यास मुदत वाढवून देण्याची सरकारची तयारी असल्याचे त्यांनी स्पष्ट केले.
भाजप-शिवसेना-राष्ट्रवादी महायुती सरकार भाषेच्या आधारावर कोणावरही अन्याय होऊ देणार नाही, अशी ग्वाही फडणवीस यांनी दिली. अनेक हिंदी भाषिक कुटुंबे तीन पिढ्यांपासून महाराष्ट्रात राहत असून ते महाराष्ट्राच्या संस्कृतीत मिसळले आहेत, असेही त्यांनी सांगितले.
